DALLAS-HighwayMaster Corp. will install 2,000 mobile communications systems in AmeriTruck Distribution Corp.’s fleets nationwide, HighwayMaster said.
AmeriTruck Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Lawrence said several options were considered including a satellite system the company already was using. “One of the frequent messages sent on our satellite system was `Call me.’ So we started adding up what it cost us to actually stop the truck to make those calls,” he said. “The conclusion-I frankly don’t see how you can afford to have a mobile communications system without voice.”
