TAMPA, Fla.-Personal communications services provider American Portable Telecom Inc. announced it has selected Tampa, Fla., as the site of its new National Operations Center.
The center, which is scheduled to begin operating this fall, will support the company’s nationwide PCS network and employ more than 400 people when it is fully staffed, said APT. The company said the center will occupy more than 90,000 square feet at the Tampa Bay Park office complex near Tampa Stadium and will house APT’s National Customer Service Center, National Data Center and National Network Management Center.
APT said its National Customer Service Center will provide a number of customer care services. Its large staff of customer service representatives will activate new customers on the network, respond to customer questions and billing inquiries and conduct credit processing verification for customers.
The National Data Center will feature open-system technology and voice application systems, and the National Network Management Center will be staffed by a team of network professionals responsible for monitoring the network, said APT. The company has already begun recruiting customer service professionals to staff the center.
