Comcast Cellular One has named David S. Levine director of marketing communications. Levine will be responsible for all marketing functions for the Cranbury, N.J.-based cellular provider, including advertising, promotion, public relations, research and new product development. He was previously director of marketing for Micro Central Inc., a national computer distributor headquartered in Old Bridge, N.J.
Vanguard Cellular Systems Inc. has named Vince Hedrick corporate vice president of strategic programs. Hedrick will be responsible for developing new revenue opportunities through third-party alliances. For the last seven years, he served as vice president of marketing and cellular operations and general manager of the Cellular One Mid-Atlantic East Region, which is owned and operated by Vanguard.
Dennis Riddle has been appointed director for cellular sales in North America for Alcatel Telecom through its Alcatel Network Systems unit. Previously, Riddle headed Alcatel Telecom’s U S West regional sales office in Denver.
RAM Mobile Data has appointed Robert Hutton vice president of technical services. He will lead RAM’s Professional Services and Product Engineering Groups in their combined efforts to provide customer-focused wireless solutions.
The company also has named Sheri Kosh Hutton director of product engineering and Glenn Stephens director of professional services, a team comprised of system consultants and engineers, project managers, technical writers and support personnel. Previously, Kosh Hutton held several positions with Software AG of North America, including director of International Service Operations. Stephens has been with RAM since 1992, most recently as director of systems development.
Mark Addis has been named director of customer service for Centennial Cellular Corp. The position will encompass supervising national collections, fraud management, roaming management and national customer service overflow. Addis was previously manager of customer service and administration for United States Cellular Corp.’s regional office in Yakima, Wash.
Centennial also appointed Tim L. Morris agent manager for Cellular One in Beaumont, Texas. He had previously been an account executive with the same firm.
Allen Telecom Group’s Decibel Products Division has appointed Gerry Smith manager of manufacturing and engineering. Smith will head the design and manufacturing of new personal communications services line of antennas. In particular, he will bring key manufacturing methodology improvements to the process that will allow for a two-hour turnaround from start to ship for a PCS antenna. Prior to joining Decibel, Smith was an independent consultant specializing in productivity improvement, work in process reduction, concurrent manufacturing and investment evaluation.
Leigh Alexander has been named senior vice president of marketing and strategic planning for Paging Network Inc. She will be responsible for the company’s strategic marketing initiatives, new product launches and the support and expansion of traditional paging products. Prior to joining the company, Alexander most recently served as senior vice president of marketing and business development for Philips Media Software, the multimedia division of Philips Electronics N.V. in Los Angeles.
ComTec International Inc., formerly known as Nattem USA Inc., has appointed Thomas Moscariello vice president of sales and marketing. Moscariello will oversee the national sales and marketing efforts of ComTec’s specialized mobile radio services, Internet video productions, various long-distance calling products and satellite uplinking services. He has more than 15 years experience in the telecommunication industry with WilTel, Northern Telecom, U S West and Tie Communications.
Wireless Resources Inc. has named Stephen F. Davis director of engineering and acquisitions. Davis was formerly the senior manager of National Site Acquisitions for PCSD Corp., where he helped develop the company’s site acquisition and program management process.
Devora DeMarco has been named director of industry relations and marketing communications for GTE Telecommunication Services. DeMarco will be responsible for managing relations with GTE’s Users’ Group and with the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association, Personal Communications Industry Association and other key industry and standards organizations. She will also oversee the company’s external and employee communications efforts. Prior to her new position, DeMarco was GTE’s line of business manager-roaming administration, with responsibility for heading the design, implementation, ongoing enhancements and maintenance of several products and billing systems, both nationally and internationally.
