DALLAS-A new chain of communications superstores called Communications Expo is scheduled to open its first store in Dallas next month, announced Paging Network Inc., which plans to distribute its line of one-way and two-way paging products, including VoiceNow, through the store.
The giant retailer will position itself as a “one-stop shop,” said Scott Baradell, manager of corporate communications at PageNet. Communications Expo plans to offer a host of two-way voice, data and video communications products from a variety of companies, and will target home office and information consumers-those who are savvy to the latest technologies-said PageNet.
“Communications Expo is a forward-thinking retailer,” said Michael DiMarco, senior vice president of operations for PageNet’s National Accounts Division. Baradell added that the store’s staff will be trained about the products and technologies featured.
Industry agrees delivering pagers and service to the consumer has been difficult as the level of product understanding is often low in current retail distribution channels, including electronic superstores, and the agent and reseller channels are oriented toward selling wireless to business users.
Baradell declined to comment on the financial arrangements of the deal.
