MIAMI-Geotek Communications Inc. said its digital wireless communications network based on Frequency Hopping Multiple Access technology has begun to offer services to the Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach metropolitan markets in south Florida.
The network mirrors those recently introduced in Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. Geotek said the network is designed to provide integrated voice and data communications to businesses that manage a mobile work force. The company is targeting the 66,000 businesses in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beach area.
Geotek said it also plans to begin commercial service in Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville before the end of the year.
