SAO PAULO, Brazil-Qualcomm Inc., through its Brazilian subsidiary, Qualcomm do Brasil, and NEC do Brasil plan to deliver digital cellular systems based on Qualcomm’s Code Division Multiple Access technology to Brazil.
The two companies plan to jointly bid on tenders that will be issued by Brazilian operators to supply digital wireless systems. NEC do Brasil is the current supplier of the Sao Paolo, Brazil, network.
“The combination of Qualcomm’s advanced CDMA products and NEC’s excellent reputation as a long-term business partner in Brazil offers a unique opportunity to aggressively deploy CDMA systems to operating companies such as TELESP,” said Chris Simpson, general manager of Qualcomm’s International and Marketing Division.
