The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
—Moblyng: MDV-Mohr Davidow Ventures and Deep Fork Capital invested $5.7 million into mobile social media company Moblyng. The Menlo Park, Calif.-based company also announced the launch of its beta product that allows customers to mobilize all major forms of social media content including photos, videos and slide shows.
—Qosmos: Sofinnova Partners, Alven Partners and GfK AG invested $10.8 million into France-based Qosmos, which specializes in Deep Packet Inspection technology. The third-round funding will be used to accelerated delivery of the company’s next-generation of DPI technology and to fuel international expansion.
—SmartSynch: Credit Suisse, through its Customized Fund Investment Group, participated in a $20 million expansion funding round into wireless smart metering technology company SmartSynch. A new investor, Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Co., also participated in the funding round along with existing investors Battelle Ventures, Beacon Group, Endeavor Capital Management, GulfSouth Capital, Innovation Valley Partners, Kinetic Ventures, OPG Ventures and Siemens Venture Capital. The funding will be used to fund working capital growth, to expand its market presence and to accelerate product development.
