Leap Wireless International Inc. tweaked the calling plans for its Cricket service, adding some once-optional features and rolling out once-geographically limited plans to more markets.
The company said it has added unlimited text messaging to Mexico for some of its “higher-value” plans, which according to Leap are plans beginning at $40 per month. The carrier also added unlimited Web browsing to plans beginning at $45 per month from what were originally plans that began at $50 per month. The $50 plans receive 30 nationwide roaming minutes, and all of the carrier’s plans now include caller ID.
Of course, Leap’s plans do vary by region, as a quick check of a handful of markets continued to show some variations. For instance, the $30 per month plan in the Denver area includes unlimited local calling and caller ID, while the same price on a family plan in Eugene, Ore., adds unlimited text and picture messaging and voicemail. And for customers in Brownsville, Texas, $25 per month gets unlimited local calling, text, video and picture messaging and caller ID.
