The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
—Altierre: The Galleon Group led a $22 million Series C funding round into San Jose, Calif.-based Altierre Corp., which provides wireless dynamic pricing solutions for retailers. Existing investors ATA Ventures, the D. E. Shaw Group, Dupont Capital Management and Labrador Ventures also participated in the round. The company said the financing will allow it to expand its production and manufacturing capabilities.
—eASIC: Advanced Equities Inc. led a $48 million late-stage financing round into eASIC Corp., which provides zero mask-charge ASIC chips. Also participating in the round were existing investors Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Crescendo Ventures and Evergreen Venture Partners. eASIC’s CFO, Craig Klosterman, also invested in the company during the financing round.
—Kyte: Steamboat Ventures and Intellect Capital Ventures participated in a $21 million funding round into Kyte. Other wireless players also participated in the funding round, including Telefonica, Nokia Growth Partners, Swisscom and DoCoMo Capital Inc. Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Holtzbrinck Ventures also participated. Kyte is building a social communications ecosystem.
—Quantum: Motorola Ventures made a strategic investment into Quantum SPA, which provides portable DVB-H media mobility players. The amount of the investment was not disclosed.
—Vontoo: Private investors invested nearly $2 million into Vontoo, a permission-based voice messaging provider. The company also announced that Mary Campbell, a Vontoo investor, has joined the company’s board of directors.
—WiSpry: American River Ventures, Blueprint Ventures and L-Capital Partners led a $18 million Series B funding round into Irvine, Calif.-based WiSpry Inc., which makes programmable radio frequency semiconductor products for the wireless industry. Arkian, WiSpry’s Korean sales representative, also participated in the round along with existing investors Hotung Capital Management, In-Q-Tel and Shepherd Ventures. In related news, the WiSpry said DoCoMo Capital made a strategic investment in the company. WiSpry said the funding will support its transition from technology development to product qualification.
