FunMobility buys mobile social startup Moblastic

FunMobility Inc. said it acquired fellow mobile social startup Moblastic Corp. for an undisclosed amount in an effort to expand its off-deck business.
Moblastic’s site encourages users to “Flirt and trade cell phone pics with hotties, free.” The Seattle-based company also claims proprietary technology that allows users to decorate digital photos with animated glitter, text bubbles and other goodies.
FunMobility, a Bay Area company, has gained traction in North America with community offerings such as America’s Best Mobile Pix and an animated greeting card application. Moblastic founders Seong Kim, Jang Kim and Joseph Corral will join FunMobility’s direct-to-consumer team.
“Creatively editing and sharing photos on the Web has become a new medium of expression as seen by the explosive growth of RockYou and Slide,” said FunMobility CEO Adam Lavine. “This acquisition is one more stepping stone for FunMobility to create a seamless direct-to-consumer use experience and a fully integrated mobile-to-Web media property.”
