Alltel music service allows synch to home library

Alltel Corp. unveiled a service that will allow customers to remotely synch their mobile phones with home digital music libraries.
The offering, which is powered by Celltop and uses mSpot’s Remix player, provides access to non-DRM protected songs on PCs. The media player downloads the entire track during playback and saves the music to the phone’s memory card for future access.
The offering is available on Motorola Inc.’s Rokr Z6m for $4 per month or $10 for three months. Alltel said it plans to launch the service to other Celltop-capable handsets in coming months.
A 4-year-old startup based in Palo Alto, Calif., mSpot launched its Remix software last year.
