MIRAMAR, Fla.-Wireless Maritime Services L.L.C., which is a two-year-old joint venture between Maritime Telecommunications Network and Cingular Wireless L.L.C., launched a customer and service-driven Web site at www.cellularatsea.com.
WMS was created originally with AT&T Wireless Services Inc., which has since been acquired by Cingular, to cater to the cruise line industry with onboard wireless connectivity services. The company currently provides wireless service on more than 15 cruise ships and supports CDMA and GSM technology.
Parent company MTN provides satellite-based communications services to cruise lines and offshore oil companies.
