Crain Communications to launch ‘FinancialWeek’ for decision-level CFOs

New York-Crain Communications Inc., which publishes RCR Wireless News, plans to launch “FinancialWeek,” a high-frequency newspaper to satisfy the growing information needs of corporate finance executives.

FinancialWeek will begin with a pilot issue on June 5, and will publish every other Monday beginning in September. It will increase its frequency to weekly in January 2007.

“Finance continues to be one of the business world’s most important and dynamic subjects. It’s a great topic for a hard-hitting business newspaper designed to cover the nuts and bolts of the financial executive’s job,” said Rance Crain, president of Crain Communications. “We publish newspapers that provide comprehensive coverage of human resources, benefits, finance, retirement investments and business insurance. The addition of FinancialWeek moves us directly into the daily routine of the financial manager,” he said.

Industry veteran William T. Bisson Jr., publisher of Pensions & Investments and InvestmentNews, will be publisher of FinancialWeek. “We intend to fill the void that our research indicates exists between general business newspapers and magazines and the many specialized financial publications currently serving vertical slices of this market,” said Bisson. “We’re confident we can do this and create a newspaper that is serious, fast-paced and comprehensive-a newspaper with immediacy that captures the flair and drama of finance, yet consistently serves as a working tool for its readers.”

Among the many topics it will cover: news of financing techniques; risk management; benefits finance; corporate governance; investment management; accounting; information technology; real estate; and compliance and reporting.

Located at Crain’s New York City offices, FinancialWeek will be a business tabloid printed on high-quality, matte-finished paper. Distribution will be controlled to a tightly qualified circulation of 55,000 chief executive officers, chief financial officers, treasurers, controllers, secretaries, investor relations directors and others within the upper tier of financial decision-makers at the largest U.S. corporations. For others, the subscription price will be $79 per year. The Internet address for FinancialWeek is www.efinancialweek.com

Detroit-based Crain Communications Inc publishes more than 30 highly respected business-to-business newspapers and magazines.
