LIBERTYVILLE, Ill.-Motorola Inc. and Skype Technologies SA announced the launch of a Bluetooth headset that allows Skype customers to use Motorola’s Wireless Internet Calling Kit to make voice calls over the Internet.
Available in 3,500 RadioShack stores nationwide, Motorola said the product includes its H500 Bluetooth Headset and PC850 Adapter, and includes 30 free SkypeOut minutes.
Motorola explained headset users can make Internet calls from up to 30 feet away from a Bluetooth-enabled computer, and Skype users can have calls forwarded automatically to their Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones. Motorola said the solution provides up to 8 hours of talk time, is lightweight and has an ergonomic fit.
“Motorola and Skype are combining the power of Internet telephony with Bluetooth technology, redefining the ways that consumers can stay in touch,” said Bruce Hawver, vice president and general manager of Companion Products at Motorola.
VoIP vendor Skype counts more than 66 million users. The company offers free, unlimited voice calls, online chatting and chat and file sharing.
