DALLAS-Texas Instruments Inc. announced the launch of its new pico base stations, saying the technology reduces time to market for manufacturers by combining a high-performance DSP with optimized baseband software and development tools.
TI said its newest wireless infrastructure solution extends the reach of third-generation networks, improving coverage and access to high-speed data with small, low-power cellular network nodes. TI said the pico base station technology includes the TCI6482 DSP and highly optimized symbol-rate and chip-rate software libraries, all of which the company expects to be available later this year.
“One of the key benefits of TI’s solution is that customers can develop a highly differentiated and efficient product offering by combining their pro-proprietary algorithms along with TI’s optimized software,” said Ramesh Kumar, wireless infrastructure marketing manager at TI. “OEMs can take advantage of a software programmable approach to support a varied set of features to meet each operator’s unique requirements.”
