Computex 2011: Tegra 3 not quite panning out as hopedTaipei, Taiwan – Rumor on the showfloor has it that while Nvidia’s Tegra 2 virtually cleared up in terms of design wins, Tegra 3 might not have the same luck.

“It’s just not living up to expectations,” a source close to the firm told RCR confidentially adding bitingly, “Word is, if you want a good powerpoint presentation, Nvidia is your man!”

“Nvidia seems to have run out of steam, lacks engineers and has come up against a bit of an innovation wall,” our source went on, saying he wouldn’t be surprised if the firm’s CEO, Jen Hsun Huang allowed his firm to be bought by a bigger company sometime in the near future.

“If there was ever a time to get out, for Huang, it would be now,” he added.

Nvidia has been seeing significant yield issues on its chips, which are churned out here in Taiwan by Fab firm TSMC. Even former Nvidia supporter Google seems to have switched its allegiances, with the firm reported to be favoring the Texas Instruments Omap 4 chip for its next Android optimization.
