PCIA names new leader

WASHINGTON-Former wireless policy-maker Michael T.N. Fitch has been named president of PCIA, a trade group that represents tower companies.

Fitch, who succeeds long-time PCIA head Jay Kitchen, will officially take over at the association March 1.

An internationally recognized expert on radio and satellite telecommunications, Fitch most recently was employed by the Boeing Co. and Hughes Electronics in California. Prior to that, Fitch held various posts at the Federal Communications Commission and the State Department during the 1980s.

“Mike’s experience in Washington and his industry knowledge are an excellent fit for PCIA,” said John Kelly, president and chief executive of Crown Castle International and chairman of PCIA. “PCIA is the leading advocate for the wireless infrastructure industry, and we are confident in Mike’s ability to drive our industry initiatives and represent PCIA’s members.”

“I am honored to lead PCIA when demand for mobile services is skyrocketing. PCIA’s dynamic member companies provide the critical infrastructure required for mobile communications. PCIA will continue to be a strong voice for this industry,” said Fitch.
