No contract wireless provider Consumer Cellular said it has increased the amount of calling minutes and data available on current rate plans as well as rolled out a new price point. The carrier offers service using AT&T Mobility’s network.
The company, which has an exclusive marketing arrangement with the AARP, said it has bumped the minute bucket for four of its rate plans and added a new $15 per month offering. The increased calling minutes range from 50 additional minutes on its $20 per month plan (increased from 250 to 300 minutes), up to 400 additional minutes for its $60 per month plan (increased from 2,000 to 2,400 minutes). The carrier also added a new $15 per month plan that includes 100 calling minutes and slots in above its entry level $10 per month plan that continues as a per-minute offering.
For its messaging and data services, the carrier is now grouping messaging and data access into a single package. The entry level plan for $2.50 per month includes 100 messages and has had its data bucket doubled from 2 megabytes to 4 MB; the $5 per month plan includes 500 messages and has increased its data bucket from 15 MB to 20 MB; the $10 plan includes 1,000 messages and an increase in its data allowance from 30 MB to 40 MB; while the high-end $20 per month plan includes 2,000 messages and a bump in data from 75 MB to 100 MB.
“We recognized that our voice customers desired a lower entry price point that included minutes, and our Connect! subscribers requested additional megabytes, so we’ve altered our plans to reflect that,” said John Marick, CEO of Consumer Cellular.
