T-Mobile USA set to lose CMO Brodman

T-Mobile USA is reportedly losing its chief marketing officer as Cole Brodman is set to leave the carrier May 25, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Brodman was named to his current position in 2010, having previously served as T-Mobile USA’s CTO. That position was taken over by former chief network operator Neville Ray at the same time that T-Mobile USA named current CEO Philipp Humm to replace former CEO Robert Dotson.

The move comes as T-Mobile USA looks to remove itself from under the umbrella of a failed acquisition attempt by AT&T Mobility that blunted operations for most of 2011 and remake itself into an upstart agitator. Those moves include the recent announcement of its LTE plans as well as its continued tweaking of rate plans and advertising campaigns.

Brodman’s departure also comes just days before the carrier is set to release first quarter results, which should unveil how the carrier has so far managed to fair against rivals. The carrier is seen as being vulnerable from larger rivals Verizon Wireless, AT&T Mobility and Sprint Nextel as it’s the only nationwide operator not offering Apple’s iPhone, while smaller rivals in MetroPCS and Leap Wireless are seen as taking share in the no-contract space.
