Gold members also include China Mobile, Cisco, Google, Hitatchi and Citrix, among others. Verizon Terremark will utilize its new membership to further its work on open cloud and virtualization systems, including the Verizon Cloud, an IaaS platform featuring Verizon Cloud Compute and Verizon Cloud Storage.
"Linux, open cloud and open virtualization technologies support innovation in the market, and The Linux Foundation offers a neutral venue where we can help advance this work," said Kevin Clarke, Verizon Terremark's cloud platform engineering director.
cVidya supports Hadoop
Toward the end of March, cVidya went public with its support for Hadoop, a platform that enables users to process big data. The company will foster the success of Hadoop utilization by making the resource increasingly navigable for new and previous users. In this way, customers can boost fraud management, marketing analytics and revenue assurance abilities within their organizations. Additionally, cVidya noted that the software is a cost-effective alternative to other systems as the platform could be leveraged to reduce hardware licensing costs by around 70 percent.
