MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.-Software developer Mobile Digital Media (MDM) acquired Cutting Edge Software and its Quickoffice suite of applications for handheld devices, the companies announced Tuesday.
MDM bought the subsidiary of Mobility Electronics Inc., which operated the company’s handheld software business and related technology assets for smart phones and personal digital assistants running Microsoft Office.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“This is a key step in positioning Mobility to more effectively focus on our most attractive market opportunities in the power product space and in the growing connectivity solution market for converged consumer electronic devices,” said Charlie Mollo, Mobility’s chief executive officer. “In addition, we believe the Quickoffice suite of software is an excellent fit with MDM’s current product and sales, and further development of the Quickoffice products will benefit greatly from MDM’s focus in the software industry and its already extensive distribution network.”
