Macario Namie, head of IoT strategy at Cisco Jasper, sat down with us for this episode of IoT in Action. Namie talked about two case studies, one with ABB, one of the largest manufacturers of robots, and General Motors. ABB wanted to remotely access their machines to monitor the performance of the robots on the manufacturing line. This would allow the company the ability to see if they were up and running, if there was a current problem and to predict when a robot would cause downtime. The goal was to achieve zero downtime. The company used Cisco Jasper control center to manage connectivity on multiple mobile networks. Cisco Jasper also works with General Motors to help connect their cars for features like OnStar telematics.
