When AT&T scored yet another big victory over rival Verizon Wireless by landing Apple’s iPad recently, many knew it wouldn’t be long before Verizon prepared a counter punch, and now the company has confirmed it’s in talks with Google about its own tablet.
Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam told the Wall Street Journal his firm was working with the search engine giant on the “next big wave of opportunities,” represented by the tablet market.
McAdam added that a tablet would be part and parcel of a deeper relationship between Google and Verizon Wireless – no doubt countering the unholy matrimony between Apple and AT&T.
“We’re looking at all the things Google has in its archives that we could put on a tablet to make it a great experience,” he told the WSJ.
So an Android powered 3G offering is on Verizon’s horizon, but just when the mythical tablet might tip up remains to be seen.
