OAKBROOK, Ill.-GTE Airfone says it has introduced the first digital public facsimile machines aboard aircraft.
Fax machines now will be available on United Airlines’ transcontinental routes from New York to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Selected Delta Airlines planes also will offer fax service.
The machines, located in the midsection of the aircraft, will be available to all passengers, according to GTE. Presently, people will only be able to send fax messages, at a cost of $1.50 per minute with a $1.50 set-up charge, paid by credit card or calling card.
