ALEXANDRIA, Va.-Go Communications Corp. entered into a long-term agreement to purchase radio site acquisition and planning software from Biby Telecommunications Inc.
Go said the engineering support tool will help it design, acquire, build and test thousands of radio cell sites in the 30 megahertz of spectrum to be sold in the entrepreneurial auction scheduled for Aug. 2. BTI uses digital U.S. geological survey maps covering all major markets.
David Lowry, Go’s chief technical officer, said the BTI system provides an RF engineering solution that can be extended to other applications, such as customer care and trouble reports. “It will enable us to capitalize on the rapidly expanding data sources available for commercial Geographical Information Systems with standard open interfaces,” Lowry said.
The map data base and other radio planning tools will be integrated into the Go Communications Operational Support System, which will be made available to other designated-entity companies in order to form a nationwide alliance.
