THE RCR TOP 20 CELLULAR MARKETS (21-40)

Editor’s Note: The cities listed here represent U.S. cellular markets 21 through 40, ranked by total number of subscribers in each metropolitan statistical area.

Most carriers are unwilling to reveal subscriber numbers because of the highly competitive nature of the business. RCR tallies are estimates for total market subscribers, and each cities’ population base and penetration rates also are estimates.

Data was provided by Economic and Management Consultants International Inc., Herschel Shosteck Associates Ltd., and from RCR’s own surveys. RCR is solely responsible for the accuracy of the information presented here.

Estimates are based on new research and may not be directly comparable to prior surveys. Because of the growth of cellular coverage areas into “super-systems” that extend beyond the original geographic service areas and obscure competitive boundaries, RCR does not attempt to estimate market share or subscriber counts for each individual carrier in a market.

New Par, the A-side carrier in the Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio, markets is an equal partnership between AirTouch Communications and Cellular Communications Inc.
