QUALCOMM OFFERS CDMA TO NEC FOR PCS SERVICES

SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. said it licensed its Code Division Multiple Access technology to NEC Corp., which plans to use CDMA in manufacturing infrastructure equipment for cellular and personal communications services in the North, South and Central Americas.

Tokyo-based NEC expects to have products commercially available by the second half of 1996, stated Yoshitake Matsuo, NEC’s Mobile Communication Systems Division assistant general manager.
