TRI-STATE RADIO DEPLOYING MOTOROLA FLEX PROTOCOL

FORT LEE, N.J.-Tri-State Radio Co. announced deployment of Motorola Inc.’s FLEX high speed paging protocol on its East Coast and West Coast regional paging networks.

“The rapid growth of our markets necessitated an advanced protocol solution. We chose the FLEX protocol because it is the leading edge transport protocol technology that will propel our business into the 21st century,” said Mitchell Sacks, Tri-State’s executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Tri-State said it currently uses the POCSAG protocol to serve its more than 450,000 subscribers and plans to spend $9 million in development of its FLEX system.
