LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-With its most recent acquisition, Alltel Mobile Communications of the Carolinas Inc. said it will be able to provide continuous cellular coverage from central North Carolina to central Florida. Alltel acquired a majority interest in a cellular partnership that will operate the Columbia and Florence, S.C., markets formerly controlled by BellSouth Mobility.
Alltel said the partnership will service BellSouth Mobility’s customer base in Florence and Columbia and also will continue to offer services through retail outlets.
Alltel Mobile President Dennis Whipple told customers that their service won’t be changed. “Our rate plans, coverage area and services will remain the same as those offered by BellSouth Mobility.”
In addition to Columbia/Florence, Alltel provides service in the South Carolina counties of Union, Fairfield, Chester, Lancaster, York and Cherokee.
