OMNITEL EXPANDS SYSTEM USING MOTOROLA’S WILL

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Motorola Inc. is expanding the Global System for Mobile communications network of Lithuanian carrier OmniTel, which launched service in March in the cities of Vilnius and Kaunus.

OmniTel plans to provide nationwide coverage by year’s end. Additional infrastructure is being installed in all major cities and along main transportation routes.

OmniTel also intends to deploy Motorola’s digital Wireless Local Loop to extend the mobile network and provide fixed wireless service to the residential and business market.
