WETHERSFIELD, Conn.-Shared Technologies Cellular Inc. announced it will purchase 15,000 in-car phones, patents pending and a highly advanced computer operating system from PTC Cellular Inc., a wireless reseller that provides in-car cellular phone service to travelers in the U.S. car rental marketplace.
PTC Cellular currently operates under exclusive contracts with Avis Rent a Car System Inc. and Budget Rent a Car to provide the cellular phones. The purchase price, valued at approximately $6 million, consists of a combination of cash, debt, securities and royalty payments, Shared Technologies said.
