IRVINE, Calif.-Cox California PCS Inc. announced it has acquired a site for its personal communications services network operations control center.
Located in the Irvine Business Center in Irvine, Calif., the NOCC will serve as Cox’s network surveillance center, operations control and switching location, Cox said.
“Strategically located near our administrative headquarters, this center will be the heart of our communications network,” said Bruce Crair, vice president and general manager for Cox. “We are one step closer to launching our highly advanced PCS system.”
Cox California PCS Inc., a subsidiary of Cox Communications, is deploying digital PCS using Code Division Multiple Access technology. The Federal Communications Commission awarded Cox Communications a pioneer’s preference license to offer cable-based wireless communications technology capable of delivering voice and data services to the Los Angeles-San Diego major trading area.
Cox Communications is part of the Sprint Telecommunications Venture that includes Sprint, Tele-Communications Inc. and Comcast Corp.
