WASHINGTON-The panels and format for the Federal Communications Commission’s March 5 en banc hearing on spectrum policy have been set, with the agenda and most of the questioning determined by the four commissioners and Chairman Reed Hundt.
Concurrent with the hearing, demonstrations of new technologies related to the panels will be offered March 4-5.
The all-day meeting will feature four panels dealing with future spectrum demand, technology trends, spectrum allocation and spectrum assignment. The 23 participants include Craig McCaw, Eagle River Communications; Dale Hatfield, Hatfield and Associates; John Major, Motorola Inc.; Gene Robinson, Texas Instruments; F. Craig Farrill, AirTouch Communications Inc.; John Stupka, Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems; Lon Levin, American Mobile Satellite Corp.; Walter Ku, University of California-San Diego; Wayne Perry, AT&T Wireless Services Inc.; and Mark Crosby, Industrial Telecommunications Association.
Panelists will submit copies of their planned remarks to the Office of Plans and Policy by Feb. 20. Following the hearing, attendees will be able to file comments on panelists’ presentations up to March 26.
