FORT WORTH, Texas-Motorola Inc.’s Advanced Messaging Systems Division announced three contracts for paging infrastructure equipment in China from Hunan Post and Telecommunication Administration, the Shaanxi PTA and the Hainan PTA.
Motorola said each province has chosen its Nucleus radio frequency transmission base stations, C-Net control system and M15 series paging terminals for the province’s networking capabilities. The paging systems are FLEX-capable and are expected to be operating in the second quarter, Motorola said.
Motorola said it also has won infrastructure contracts for 11 province-wide paging networks and two nationwide networks in China.
Momentum for the FLEX protocol is growing in the Asia-Pacific region as the China Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications recently adopted the protocol as its nationwide network standard. Other paging providers in Singapore, Indonesia and China also have embraced FLEX technology, Motorola said.
FLEX technology increases subscriber capacity on each broadcast channel, allowing more efficient use of infrastructure equipment, Motorola said. The technology also offers system flexibility, improved data integrity and significantly improved pager battery life.
