BOYNTON BEACH, Fla.-Motorola Inc. has renamed its Paging Products Group the Messaging Systems Products Group. The headquarters for MSPG will be in Fort Worth, Texas, where Motorola has advanced messaging and cellular infrastructure operations.
“We are now at an inflection point in our business, due to its size, growth and focus, where a realignment of our resources is appropriate to ensure our continued success,” said Hector Ruiz, who will serve as the MSPG’s general manager. He previously was general manager of the Paging Products Group.
Paging has evolved in recent years from simple notification service to advanced communications, such as two-way messaging. The continued growth of the company’s paging and messaging divisions reflects that evolution, Motorola said.
Five organizations will belong to MSPG-a new Paging Products Group, Advanced Messaging Group (upgraded from a division), Personal Communicator Systems and Software, Derivative Technologies and Core Technology Systems.
The Paging Products Group will contain six regional divisions: North American Paging Subscriber Division, Latin America and Caribbean Paging Products Division, European Paging Subscriber Division, Asia Pacific Paging Subscriber Division, Greater China Paging Subscriber Division and the Japan Paging Products Division. Bob Becknell has been named vice president and general manager of the Paging Products Group.
