MOTOROLA LAUNCHES TEST MARKET UNIT

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola Inc.’s Wireless Data Group has launched a business unit that will develop and test market limited-edition wireless hardware and software to customers.

The Air Ventures unit’s objective is to accelerate the delivery and acceptance of wireless solutions by incorporating extensive customer feedback into the development cycle, said Motorola. Air Ventures currently is entering the test market phase with its first test product, AirWeb Wireless Software, a client/server middleware solution that optimizes the use of web browsers over wireless networks.

“The depth and quality of the market knowledge we gain from customers when they test solutions in their own environments is invaluable,” said Randy Battat, corporate vice president and general manager of the Wireless Data Group. “The Air Ventures business unit will not only accelerate our learning process of what our customers want and need, allowing us to deliver better wireless solutions more quickly-but it will allow customers to learn first hand about wireless data.”
