NPPCA CHALLENGES AUCTION REQUIREMENTS

WASHINGTON-The National Paging and Personal Communications Association is leading an effort to challenge new rules that tighten financial requirements for small business bidders in the D, E and F block personal communications services auction scheduled for Aug. 26.

The group is weighing several options, including seeking a 60-day congressional review of auction guidelines crafted by the Federal Communications Commission that hike upfront payments prior to the auction and increase down payments of successful bidders. Such a review could delay the auction.

“We feel actions the FCC has taken in changing the rules of the D, E and F auction are detrimental and non-supportive of small businesses,” said Micheal Walker, president of NPPCA.
