SAN FRANCISCO-The wireless alliance of AirTouch Cellular and Bell Atlantic Nynex Mobile has contracted with InfoNXX Inc. to supply directory assistance services in the majority of alliance markets nationwide.
Easton, Penn.-based InfoNXX said the contract is valued at a total of $23 million annually. Service already has been launched in San Diego, Cincinnati/Dayton, Ohio, New Jersey and parts of New England. New York service is expected to launch this week. By Labor Day, InfoNXX is expected to serve more of New England, Salt Lake City and Sacramento, Calif.
InfoNXX not only provides numbers but can connect calls as well. Enhanced services are provided such as directions and event locations.
“On average, cellular customers call directory assistance once a month,” said Robert Pines, chief executive officer of InfoNXX.
