BCE MOBILE FILES STOCK APPLICATION

MONTREAL-BCE Mobile Communications Inc. announced it is filing an application to list its common shares on the New York Stock Exchange.

The company said it expects the shares to begin trading on the exchange in the second week of September under the symbol “BCX.” BCE Mobile shares currently trade on The Toronto Stock Exchange and the Montreal Exchange under the same symbol.

BCE Mobile’s operating units provide a full range of wireless services under the Bell Mobility brand name to about 1.2 million customers in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Bell Mobility Cellular serves nearly 900,000 subscribers. Standard & Poor’s Corp. recently confirmed its BBB+ rating for Bell Mobility Cellular’s senior unsecured debentures, series D.

The corporation also plans to provide personal communications services by the beginning of 1997 and has chosen Code Division Multiple Access as the digital technology platform for both its cellular and PCS operations.
