FREMONT, Calif.-Cirrus Logic Inc. announced a single-chip mobile compute engine targeted for next-generation mobile applications.
Cirrus said its CL-PS7110, based on the ARM7100, has the highest MIPs per watt and the lowest system power consumption of any embedded processor available. The processor is ideal for applications such as high-end palmtop computers, mobile Web browsers, smart phones, electronic dictionaries and translators, said the company.
The mobile compute engine supports the EPOC/32 operating system, an open software platform from Psion Software plc and all operating systems announced for the ARM processor, such as the recently announced Java OS from JavaSoft, Tornado from Wind River and VRTX/mc from Microtec, said Cirrus.
Cirrus also announced the availability of a complete system design kit.
