THORN SET TO BUY ERICSSON MODEMS

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-Thorn Security Ltd., a security services provider, has signed an agreement with L.M Ericsson for 5,000 Mobidem M2050 radio modems to be used for the company’s new Siteguard Smart Signaling alarm services.

The system uses a self-checking alarm signaling technique that provides intelligent mutual monitoring between wireless data links and landline communications at the customer site.

“A single-routed system over a landline link is fundamentally flawed because it is vulnerable to faults and sabotage in the connection between the customer site and the local exchange,” said John Reardon, Siteguard product manager at Thorn. “Using a wireless data link and smart signaling technology, Siteguard can perform continuous health checks.”
