PARIS-France Telecom, with its Mobil Rom consortium, announced it will participate in a bid for a license to install and operate a new Global System for Mobile communications digital cellular phone network in Romania. The Mobil Rom consortium includes Computer Land, Media Pro, Tomen Telecom Romania and Alcatel Network Systems Romania.
“The members of the Mobil Rom consortium have a unique combination of technological, marketing, financial and management capabilities to build the best GSM network in Romania,” said Jean-Baptiste de Boissiere, president of France Telecom Mobiles International. “The Mobil Rom consortium is dedicated to delivering top quality GSM services to Romanian business and residential customers.”
The company said the consortium will pursue an ambitious strategy that should allow for extensive use of GSM in Romania in large and small business markets, as well as in residential and rural markets.
