BEIJING-China Telecom, a division of the country’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, has selected Motorola Inc.’s Advanced Messaging Group to supply infrastructure equipment to implement China’s FLEX national backbone paging network in Beijing, Shanghai and nine major provincial capital cities.
The system, which is expected to be available in early 1997, has an initial capacity of more than 2 million subscribers and will provide multifrequency roaming and numeric, alphanumeric and voice messaging services.
According to the memorandum of understanding, Motorola will continue to assist the MPT to develop and establish the protocols required for China’s backbone network.
