GREENVILLE, S.C.-Conxus Communications Inc. will provide mobile voice messaging services to Arch Communications Group Inc., according to a definitive agreement.
Conxus is deploying a nationwide narrowband personal communications services network in the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The agreement calls for joint efforts in network and systems integration, distribution strategy and co-marketing arrangements, said Harry Latham, senior vice president of Conxus.
Westborough, Mass.-based Arch has more than 3 million paging subscribers and is one of the original investors in PCS Development Corp., now Conxus. Arch owns approximately 10 percent of Conxus.
“As one of the first companies to believe and invest in mobile messaging, we’re naturally pleased to now be moving from concept to implementation with Conxus,” said Edward Baker Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Arch. “We are confident in the consumer demand for mobile voice messaging, and believe this is an important addition to the Arch portfolio of wireless messaging services.”
