ATLANTA-Motorola Inc.’s Platform Software Division and Unwired Planet Inc. signed an agreement to provide an optimized solution for delivering Internet-based content to wireless communications devices such as cellular smart phones and alphanumeric pagers.
The agreement calls for Unwired Planet’s UP.Link server and UP.Browser client applications to be supported by Motorola’s Memos client/server operating environment platform.
“Unwired Planet and Motorola share a common vision of how the Internet can best be used to provide wireless users with the content of their choice,” said Doug Kraul, vice president and general manager of Motorola’s Platform Software Division.
Alain Rossman, chairman and chief executive officer of Unwired Planet, added, “The combination of Unwired Planet’s UP.Link platform and Motorola’s Memos operating environment creates a powerful and complete solution for network operators and device manufacturers. Our joint work with Motorola will bring the Internet to millions of cellular phone and pager users.”
