Sabre Communications Corp. introduced a new line of monopoles designed to support antenna loadings for cellular, personal communications services, enhanced specialized mobile radio and microwave applications. The monopoles extend 200 feet and are constructed of tapered sections for easy assembly and low visual impact, the company said. Hewlett Packard Co. announced an adapter for its HP 8920B radio frequency communications test set. The adapter, named HP 83206A, allows manufacturers of dual-mode mobile phones compatible with the Interim Standard 136 Time Division Multiple Access standard to characterize performance on the production line. HP 83206A and HP 8920B test a phone’s ability to set up a call with a digital control channel. Together with the HP 11807E Option 014 software package, it tests for RF power, receiver sensitivity, mobile assisted hand-off and call-processing registration. PerCon Corp. introduced several new products during the fourth quarter. Geo_db is a street-level mapping system. Global Positioning Systems can be connected to a computer running the Geo_db for real-time display of GPS data points. PerCon developed WaveLinks, a receiver control program for use with scanners equipped with an Optoelectronics OS456 or OS535 control board. WaveLinks has several modes including bank scan, frequency range scanning, direct frequency entry and block scanning. An enhancement to WaveLinks, Visual WaveLinks, has the additional feature of plotting hits on a map in real-time using Geo_db. A third product, the FCC Tower Database, uses 42 files and is in a processed dbase compatible file. It is priced at $250. The RPC Power Control Switch was developed by Bay Technical Associates Inc. to allow network managers to control power and access the console ports of network equipment with one dial line or a local RS-232 port. The RPC is a six receptacle, 10/15 amp power switch with an RS-232 port and optional modem, the company said. It accepts commands to turn on, turn off or toggle the 115 VAC power to all or individual receptacles. The RS-232 can be combined with the new DS-Series menu driven data switch. Quest Systems Inc. is now offering a Global Positioning System fleet management solution, the QuesTrack II Automated Vehicle Location System.
