TELUS SET TO PROVIDE CDPD IN ALBERTA

CALGARY, Alberta-Telus Mobility will offer Northern Telecom Ltd.’s Cellular Digital Packet Data services to its customers in Alberta.

“Telus Mobility’s extensive deployment of Nortel’s platform throughout Alberta allows us to offer service to remote areas as well as major centers,” said David Miles, vice president of technology for Telus Mobility. “The dual-mode radio and integrated approach that Nortel has taken toward CDPD provides a quick-to-market implementation that minimizes our investment risk.”

Telus Mobility is one of Canada’s largest telecommunications and information management service companies, managing $4.2 billion in assets and employing more than 9,000 people.
