MCLEAN, Va.-Lucent Technologies Inc. placed an order for Cycomm International Inc.’s Slice digital voice encryption attachments for Motorola Inc.’s MicroTac handheld phones. Cycomm said it is the largest order it has received for the device, but the exact number of units was not disclosed.
The company said Slice was developed by Cycomm and Bell Laboratories to help users prevent eavesdropping. It fits between the battery and handset of the phone. Cycomm said would-be eavesdroppers hear only digital white noise when the device is in use.
