MILLICOM DIVIDES INTO REGIONAL OPS

NEW YORK-Millicom International Cellular S.A. said it will re-organize its business into four wholly owned operating companies.

Three of Millicoms four companies will focus on regional operations.

MIC Asia comprises cellular operations in Cambodia, India, Mauritius, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. MIC Latin America covers Bolivia, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Paraguay. MIC EEMEA has responsibility for Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The fourth division, MIC Systems, comprises Millicom’s ownership in Multinational Automated Clearing House S.A., a Global System for Mobile communications roaming clearinghouse. It also is responsible for Millicom’s 50 percent interest in a Luxembourg service provider.
