The Antenna Co. announced it has officially changed its name to Andrew Wireless Products Group. Andrew Corp. acquired the company last year.
The transition marks a stronger direction for the company and its place in the accessories market, said Roger Fisher, group president of the company.
With the ability to make significant investments in capital, equipment and research and development, Fisher said Andrew Wireless plans to better address customer needs through technologically advanced products, customized support programs and dedicated account teams.
Andrew Wireless’ European division plans to increase its role in the accessories market as well.
“Andrew is extremely well respected,” said Gene Maher, vice president of sales and marketing for Andrew Wireless. “Our part of the business addresses a different part of the market. The picture is to provide every step of communication, from towers and infrastructure all the way to handsets and accessories. We could be really one-stop shopping.”
Maher said The Antenna Co. and Andrew, which is a global supplier of equipment systems and services, run parallel to each other when it comes to the customers they serve.
To prepare for its technological advancements, Andrew Wireless said it will move into a 230,000 square-foot facility. The company said it is developing an advanced hands-free car kit that is expected to cost under $100, a price analysts say is needed in order for the hands-free market to pick up. The company said it also is focused on battery charging technology in terms of performance, cost and configuration.
